how to sing consistantly slightly off key?
haha, this may seem like an odd question, but I'm serious, i don't mean as in a different key exactly, just slightly out, the reason i want tips for this is that I'm doing some recording in garageband and want to get that "t-pain" sound for a verse using pitch enhancer, but it only works if i sing off key and its quite difficult for someone whos used to singing properly lol, is there a better way? Sorry, off PITCH

- He uses synths for that. By "keys", you are talking about C major having no sharps and flats, as opposed to C minor, which has 3 flats, Bb-Eb-Ab. If you want slightly out, just try to find something, like you said, lowers the pitch by half step.
- I'm not a music expert, but I would work the melody of the song in tune on, say, a piano or your instrument of choice, then alter that song so that you play it slightly off-key as you wish. Then simply listen to how the song sounds and mimic it so that you can learn it thoroughly without the music in the background putting you off. Then I suppose its just a case of focusing on your part as opposed to the background noise. Unless you record your voice separately, in which case s'all good.
