X Factor - What is the point of a sing off?

They shouldn't bother. Lloyd should have gone but I did feel sorry for him.

1. it so that they can sung a song of their choice and yh i think they should a straight public vote no bottom 2 !!!!!!!!!!!!
2. I think they should drop the sing off and leave it to the public vote, would stop them voting for their own acts when they are in the bottom and stop them voting off the strongest when they can.
3. Well, tonight there was no point in a sing off as Simon was sending Rachel home anyway! Llyod was worse than her in the sing off and has the weaker voice in general, he should've gone!
4. No point as Lloyd was clearly the weaker singer & him having a sore throat makes no difference as he cannot sing regardless...Rachel was way better than him & Simon should have voted him off & not went to the public vote...that made me think he went against everything he always says that it is about that song only for the sing off...& he would judge on the song...gone right off him as he is so far up Cheryl's ass at the moment....
5. it just extends the show and fills air time - the voting show itself is an air time filler - like why cant they do the vote on the night of the contest -- cos they can get another £500,000 advertising revenue by dragging the show on
6. I think Simon just wanted to get rid of the person who keeps coming at the bottom. By doing deadlock it showed that Rachel really isn't liked as much. Saves her having to go through it again next week. I think he was being sly though because he knows Lloyd is probably getting some viewings.... or he had an instinct that Rachel is at the bottom and because she's a good singer i.e a possible threat, he went to deadlock. Simon isn't stupid there was a strategy in his actions.
7. I know. And the judges almost always choose their own acts so it's not really 'who gives the best performance', seems like they're in it for themselves. Rachel sang consistently in a different league to Lloyd, so I don't think she should've gone. But Simon's got his tactics so you never know I guess.
8. Quite agree the public should say who goes, not the judges. After all that's the way it was done originally.

10. It's a bloomin disgrace! That Welsh geezer should be on the bus home right now. Even if he had his normal voice tonight he still woulda been whipped by Rachel. It makes a complete joke of the sing off.
11. there shouldnt be the sing off it should allways go to the public vote whats the point of charging people a pound to phone up and then let two judges decide who should stay or go (i say 2 judges because neither of the other two are going to vote off their own act all though i think it did happen once)
12. None at all Hot Mess when the judges whimp out and put it to deadlock. Lloyd should have gone but Simon knew Rachel would and that's why he whimped - he sees her as a threat to his own acts.
