How do I use Audacity to change vocal levels of an a capella song?

I have an a capella version of a song, and I'm trying to use Audacity to lower the volume of only the lead vocal, so that I can hear everything underneath. I've tried the vocal eraser, but since it's an a capella, it erases everything and I get silence. Anyone have any suggestions?

1. there is no way to pick out any one part of a song like that You would need access to the master tapes, which you won't get and a VERY expensive digital playback/mixer to do it sorry
