The Sing Off

What's the point in the final sing off on X Factor if it comes down to the phone vote anyway?

Obviously Simon and Cheryl were going to vote for their own mentor groups last night, so what is the point of the sing off, when it comes down to the phone vote anyway if there is deadlock?

1. This is i believe the first time it has come down to deadlock this series and it has always been at least 3 judges voting one way and one the other. The reason they do it is to make more of a show. Although last year it did seem pointless when they constantly went to deadlock but this year they seem to so far other than last night be sending a certain act home before, so we will see how it progresses once it starts to get down to 2 talented people in the bottom 2 and wether they have the balls/courage to send them home or just chicken out and go to deadlock like last year.
2. It generates lots more money - viewers and those eternal ads I stopped watching on week 2, just watch the highlights now of the people I like
